Student Agreement &
Mutual Commitment
Welcome to the Biblical Counseling Academy (BCA).
Our heart is not simply to help you complete a curriculum but to help you become a faithful biblical counselor who ministers God's Word with wisdom, humility, and love.
As an IABC Certified Training Center, BCA provides the mentoring, supervision, student care, and evaluation that guide students from their first inquiry through IABC certification and beyond. We believe biblical counseling is learned best within accountable relationships, not in isolation.
This agreement describes our mutual commitment to one another as we walk that journey together.
Our Commitment To You
We commit, by God's grace, to:
✅ Provide biblically faithful training built upon the sufficiency and authority of Scripture.
✅ Give you a clear pathway toward competency through the Student Success Path.
✅ Guide, encourage, and shepherd you throughout your training.
✅ Evaluate your progress honestly and lovingly, providing encouragement where appropriate and correction when necessary.
✅ Pray for you and care for you as a fellow servant of Christ.
✅ Maintain high standards while treating every student with patience, kindness, and respect.
Your Commitment:
As a student, I agree to:
- Walk the Student Success Path
I will complete each step in the order it is designed and avoid bypassing required training or supervision. - Stay Engaged
I will remain actively involved with my Student Care Team, respond to communication in a timely manner, and continue making reasonable progress toward completion. - Participate in Community
Whenever possible, I will attend the scheduled Zoom gatherings, supervision meetings, and other learning opportunities provided by BCA. - Receive Biblical Correction
I will maintain a teachable spirit, welcoming instruction, encouragement, and loving correction as part of my spiritual and ministry development. - Practice Integrity
I will complete my own work honestly, maintain confidentiality when counseling others, and conduct myself in a manner worthy of Christ. - Pursue Faithfulness
I understand that certification is not merely about completing assignments but about growing in Christlike character, biblical wisdom, and faithful ministry.
Understanding the Certification Process
I understand that:
- The Biblical Counseling Academy (BCA) serves as my IABC Certified Training Center.
- BCA oversees my mentoring, supervision, evaluations, and certification preparation.
- Upon successful completion of all requirements, BCA may submit a formal recommendation and letter of endorsement to the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC).
- Final certification is determined by the IABC Board of Directors after reviewing all applicable requirements.
Important Acknowledgements
I understand and acknowledge that:
- Previous biblical counseling coursework may be evaluated for possible transfer but is not automatically accepted.
- Certification requirements may include coursework, examinations, supervised counseling, ministry references, doctrinal agreement, administrative documentation, background checks, and other standards established by IABC.
- The Student Success Path may be updated periodically to improve student training and certification.
Our Shared Goal
Together, we want to glorify Christ by preparing faithful servants who minister God's Word wisely, compassionately, and with integrity.
We recognize that genuine ministry effectiveness comes from the work of the Holy Spirit and cannot be manufactured by education alone.
As Paul wrote:
"And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."
— 2 Timothy 2:2 (NKJV)
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: The Biblical Counseling Academy provides biblical education, mentoring, supervision, and ministry training. We are committed to equipping students faithfully and walking alongside them throughout the certification process. However, we cannot guarantee certification by the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC). Final certification is granted solely by the IABC Board of Directors after its independent review of all applicable requirements, including theological agreement, character references, background screening, ministry qualifications, and successful completion of the certification process. Likewise, no school or ministry can guarantee God's calling, spiritual gifting, or the fruitfulness of a person's ministry. Those are works of God's sovereign grace. Our privilege is to train faithfully, shepherd diligently, and entrust the results to the Lord.
