Commitment.
While “learning” and “doing” are closely related, there’s one ingredient that must be added to the mix to create the magic.
Commitment.
And in that spirit, let’s strike an agreement.
On my end, I promise that:
#1: By God's grace, I will try not to waste a single second of your time. You’re a busy person. Your time is SUPER valuable. And that’s why every second you spend watching the videos inside Biblical Counseling Academy (and completing the reading, doing the assignments, performing the actions, tasks, and worksheets) is perfectly optimized to get you a spiritual payoff.
#2: My goal is to give you everything you need (and nothing you don’t) to get results:
Likewise, I will never sell you short by just giving you seminary level information that sounds good in theory, but leaves you on your own to figure out all the details.
I will make zero assumptions about your theological or counseling experience, and make sure that you’re always FULLY guided and supported in executing the exercises and projects on any given week.
Nothing’s worse than wasting time trying to figure out the granular details that should’ve been covered to begin with, and I promise there will be none of that here.
#3: My team and I will FULLY support you:
There’s nothing we want more than to see you successfully cross the finish line and become a Certified Biblical Counselor this year. Between the live Q&A sessions and peer support, our goal is to get you unstuck as quickly as possible.
Now here’s the thing . . .
For me to honor my commitments, I’ll need you to take a few SUPER important actions of your own:
1. Follow the Counseling God’s Way training in perfect order:
Yep, you’re absolutely gonna be tempted to jump ahead… but, this training is foundational.
Complete the reading, the lectures and the workbook before proceeding. . .
you already understand that this system has been painstakingly organized to keep you on track, protect you from overwhelm, and cut off all potential sources of distractions at the root -- all while giving you the opportunity to start generating momentum and compounding your wins from Day 1.
Here’s the deal. Everyone wants the “nuts and bolts” and the “How To’s” and the “What if’s” in Biblical Counseling on Day 1.
But, that is not God’s Way. He wants a relationship based on a working knowledge of the Word. The last thing you want is to jump ahead and lead those you minister to astray.
2. Schedule at least two, 60 minute BCA sessions this week:
We have a saying around here that goes like this, “What Gets Scheduled, Gets Done”.
Everything inside The Biblical Counseling Academy has been designed for rapid implementation and forward momentum.
From the bite-sized training videos, to the checklists, to reading assignments, to weekly podcasts, and to the “first do this, then do that” program design.
Meaning you’ll NEVER be wasting time scratching your head saying “what do I do next” or spinning your wheels with half a dozen random rabbit trails that never get you
anywhere.
Instead, you’ll be re-allocating the SAME amount of time that most people spend in perpetual overwhelm (hunting and pecking on YouTube and Social Media) towards confidently implementing the Biblical Counseling Ministry in your church setting -- and experiencing incremental growth every single day(sanctification).
But you still gotta plug yourself into the system for it to work. You need to show up :-)
3. Read and respond to the BCA emails, text messages and complete the forms in a timely manner:
I know… I know… another email or text message to read, right?
But here’s what you gotta know: Digital discipleship requires OVER COMMUNICATION to be effective.Â
We are committed to train you and serve you. But, we need to hear from you (don't ghost on us!).
There will be important *nudge you forward emails and texts*
There will be important *forms and applications*
to complete. Will you agree to reply and respond to emails?
Sound good? Do-able? Exciting?
*nods head*
See you on the inside.
In His love and grace,
- Jeff
